At first glance, ISAA seems unharmful. But looking at it closer, it is evident that this student group doesn't posess the same goals as its Iranian counter groups in Iran. Instead of promoting for a regime change and supporting the struggle for democracy, this bunch self-hating students at University of California, Berkeley, seems to do the opposite.

Sure, their support for jailed lecturer Dariush Zahedi seems to be genuine, but is their commitment for a free Iran genuine too?

It was the forum that made me think it. Its members are a bunch of islamic glorifiers whom just love Khatami and Khamenei.
The following quotes are from the forum at ISAA's homepage:

Babak wrote:
President Bush after September 11 said; You are either with us, or with the terrorists.

I loved President Khatami and Spiritual Leader Khameneis response, We are neither with you, nor with the terrorists.

The world isn’t black and white.

Babak (probably a member of Basij and Hezbollah) wrote:

Let us remember not to intake everything the western media tells us. Israel and America faced a huge humiliating defeat in Lebanon, having to retreat with the braveness of the Hezbollah members. They will obviously be bashing it on their media, going as far as calling them terrorists, even though they only fought a self-defense war against occupying nations.

Mullah Babak wrote:
Even if we have “regime change” in Iran, which I do not support, the new government would also pursue the nuclear path due to the surrounding threats.

Outrageous! These are the representatives of Iranians at Berkeley! One might ask; but he might not be a member of ISAA? Just a random dhimmi and self-hating Iranian? No, note the fact that NO ONE wrote any posts to counter his vicious claims!

Rational Thinker, obviously a member of ISAA too, is a fanatic muslim who puts islam in front of Iran. And in his many posts glorifies the Islamic Republic.

Rational Thinker a.k.a Unrational self-hating Iranian wrote:
You stated:
"To me, kissing ass and adopting the white man or the west's culture so that they can pay us mind,
is a form of slave mentality - the Shah complex. Forget trying to prove the world something and
having the west [accept] us."

This is exactly what the Qur'an teaches us.

It says the disbelievers "will never be satisfied with you until you follow their way of life. Say:
Surely Allah's guidance is the (true) guidance. And if you follow their desires after the knowledge
that has come to you, you shall have no guardian from Allah, nor any helper." (Qur'an 2:20)

Dhimmi wrote:
We must be wise, and understand what road Iran is leading right now. We must support the positive,
and contribute to it, even as we live here in the West. We can do so much to better the lives of our
people, and ultimately the status of our country.

I'm not saying to be a total "regime" supporter. As Islam says, "enjoy the good, forbid the wrong".
We must struggle for both Justice in Iran, and at the same time help it progress by sharing our
knowledge, and even wealth in the form of investment, to create a better, future Iran. That's what
Ali Shariati emphasized. He said Islam tells us to create a future state, not think to the past of
the Holy Prophet's state in Medina. Our future is ahead of us, not behind us.

Im just outright mad right now. These plain clothes reside in the West, and bash everything it stands for, as well as rejecting the hope for a democratic Iran.

HOW CAN THESE TRAITORS NOT THINK OF THE OPPRESSED PEOPLE OF IRAN? HOW THEY ARE BEATEN UP BY SELF-HATING IRANIANS AND THEIR ARAB CRONIES?! HOW ABOUT THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND MURDERED, TORURED, RAPED AND IMPROSINED BY THE ANTI-IRANIAN REGIME???
THEY ARE SELF-HATING IRANIANS

Where did you think these "akhundaye kot o shalwari" (mullahs in suits) come from? Wasn't Abol Hassan Bani Sadr a Sorbonne University graduate?
