Incoming news from Rooydad from all over Tehran, are reporting widespread clashes between young girls and women and the regime's militia. In recent days, patrol groups belonging to the militia have been stationed in Tehran's main squares, such as Vanak which is a gathering place for young boys and girls, where they are arresting girls wearing short pants. Rooydad News, reporting on Thursday July 15th wrote that the arrested girls are kept for 24 hours after their files are completed without any contact with their families. Before this, some web sties were reporting from Mashhad that girls wearing short pants were being flogged. There are also widespread reports of the militia visiting clothing stores and ordering them to remove Manteaus and pants, 'Chador' alternatives, from their displays. At certain malls, girls who are poorly veiled are not allowed in. It is obvious that the hardliner clampdown as a result of the 7th Parliament and the Ansar e Hezbollah takeover is fully in progress. Last week, Yalsarat Al Hussein, the official news of Hezbollah reported on orders issued by Hezbollah to Commander Bagher Ghalibaf, including stopping wedding cars, closing shops selling the manteau 'chador' alternative, confiscation of drivers licenses of poorly veiled women, and not issuing passports for any woman with a poor veiling history. So far the closure of shops selling manteaus, 'chador' alternatives, phase has started.

A reporter from Shiraz wrote Ayatollah Montazeri about the mass arrests and flogging of women for poor veiling (even mentions putting their legs in bags full of cockroaches), asking if this was acceptable as far as he, the highest relgious authority in Shiite Islam in Iran, was concerned. This is what Montazeri wrote back, I can't read his handwriting, can anyone read Montazeri's handwritten response?

They are stabbing women with a knife for poor veiling in Iran!

http://web.peykeiran.com/net_iran/irnewsbody.aspx?ID=16975

Reports from Iran
July 18th

Today, 27th of Tir, the people of Shahroud were shocked after seeing what they saw on the street. last week, an unknown motorcyclist on Kharghani street and Beest o do e Bahman streets in Shahroud, attacked 8 women and girls who were not following proper veiling with a knife, sending them to the hospital, some with minor and some with deep cuts. One of the injured described her attack as: " I was on my way to the gym when I heard the sound of a loud motor from a motorcycle, I was alarmed because I thought it was a thief after my bag, but then I saw the knife in his hand, I tried to fight him but I couldn't and he stabbed me in the leg and took off." Other cuts could be seen on her hands.

The people who have been awaiting the arrest of this sadistic criminal were shocked after seeing the regime's announcements in the form of large banners in the Jomhoori Square in Shahroud (the most crowded), looking at the lrage yellow banner, they didn't know if they should laugh or cry. The banner states:' the 4th law refers to crimes related to the sales of improper veils and attire by stores that endanger public morality, they risk closure, revocation of their permits or flogging. Those whose attire is improper or tempt public morality will be arrested and tried without delay. Office of Fighting Vice in the City of Shahroud". Who do you think is the victim here? Shahroud is one of the most distinguished cities in Iran where the majority are very educated and civilised and it has many top educational facilities, and if they threaten to flog people here and indirectly praise sadistic attackers with banners like this, then imagine what it must be like for the poor people in more rural places and areas of the country.

Reports from Our Readers
(Item 2)

Today in the vicinity of Imam Shahroud, in the name of fighting improper veiling, male and female guards savagely attacked girls and women and were confronted with a large gathering of people and bystanders. One of the women who was being attacked started to take off her headscarf and clothing, and she was dragged away by male guards towards a vehicle with more arrested girls and women.

Item Number 1 is:

Tabasi's Meeting with Al Queda. Several Al Queda officials met with Tabassi last week for a meeting. This matter was brought up in a meeting of Ansar e Hezbollah leadership. During the same meeting Ansar members were asked to confront improper veiling, and in the coming days using any excuse they should create visible events to attract and arrest girls and women for poor veiling.

Loose translation:

In the name of the Almighty,

After salutation, the command to do good and the command to stay away from sin may be necessary given the certainty of the situation. However, these kinds of activities are molestation and are meant to resolve the perpetrator's inferiority complex. These activities are not the command to do good, and will therefore have negative effects.

It's obvious they want to scare people into voting for so-called "reformists" once again in the upcoming "presidential" elections. They are like: "See? You boycotted the last parliamentary election and as a result the 'hardliners' took over and these are the consequences. Women and girls getting attacked by Ansar Hezbollah on the streets. This type of tactic must be exposed. We must warn people inside not to be fooled by this. They must boycot the upcoming elections as well. Participate in any elections inside the mullah regime is like giving consent to all the criminal things that the mullahs have done to them and will do in the future.

Attacks by Unknown Vigilantes on Tabriz Women and Girls

Peyman Pak Mehr- A Tabriz reporter writes in Tabriz News:"as part of President Seyed Mohamad Khatami's recent trip to Tabriz, groups of unknown vigilantes have been attacking women and girls in Tabriz who wear Mantaeus, or white and other 'happy' colors. These groups who are clad in all black, gather in affluent parts of Tabriz, and target chic and well dressed women and girls, threatening to attack them with acid and razor blades if they don't change their appearance.

Many mothers of the young girls who have been attacked in deserted streets, have contacted the media and have condemend these acts and pointed out that this is not the right way to confront the youth. 2 fathers of two girls who were insulted by the black clad vigilantes in front of their neighbors said, 'where can we go to, who can we complain to, and what can we do about all the attacks and threats against our children. Since yesterday my wife and daughter are pelading with me to sell my factory and emigrate to another country.'

A group of young girls accompanied by their mothers on a bus were approached and harrassed by the 'black clad' vigilantes, they threatened to get the armed police at the intersection and were then left alone. A student told one of our reporters, 'In the last 2 to 3 days we have witnessed 3 attacks against young girls and women in the streets, but with all the anti riot police and militia stationed in the streets do you think they are going to do anything about these vigilantes?'

There are posters distributed widely throughout the city showing poorly veiled girls asking 'how long can this be tolerated', but many young people are tearing them up. Other warning notes signed by the Hezbollah can also be seen thoughout the city. Many believe that these are tactics of the regime to create fear and terror amongst the youth for Khatami's visit, showing that their votes and Khatami's efforts have been for naught. After the formation of the 7th parliament much of this was already anticiapated, but water that has spilled out of a river, will not return to it."
