secular? when has norooz ever been non-secular? it is a cultural tradition and does not have to do with religion. |

A MUSLIM includes the TAZI-NAMEH (KORAN).
A TRUE Iranian (one who has found his/her identity and knows where he/she is coming from) would include something Persian/Iranian like the Shahnameh.

btw its the haft Sin not the haft Shin.
You are supposed to put Apple, Vinegar, Coins, Garlic, hyacinth, sumac and senjed. In Persian, Sib, Serke, Seke, Sir, Sonbol, Somagh, Senjed.
Other things you should put on are a mirror, a bowl of goldfish, decorated eggs, Sabzeh, and the Koran.
The Koran is included because of tradition. Norooz has absolutely nothing to do with islam. Norooz is the Zoroastrian holiday and predates Islam by several hundred years. |
