Carrots for the Mullahs
March 01, 2005
The Wall Street Journal
Review & Outlook
Source : http://online.wsj.com/public/us

The governing board of the International Atomic Energy Agency is in session this week in Vienna, and today it will review the latest batch of evidence concerning Iran's violations of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. These violations include:
· Refusal to allow the IAEA to inspect all areas of the Parchin military site near Tehran, which the U.S. suspects is involved in illicit nuclear research.
· Failure to disclose construction of a tunnel under the nuclear site of Isfahan.
· The unresolved question of how weapons-grade uranium was detected on Iranian centrifuges.
· A document describing technical assistance offers received from nuclear proliferator A.Q. Khan dating back to 1987.

Sounds bad. So what does the Administration intend to do?

One option being considered by the Administration is to join the EU in offering Tehran a package of incentives -- including commercial aircraft and membership in the World Trade Organization -- in exchange for a formal Iranian commitment to renounce plans to build a bomb. More broadly, the intention is to create a united front with the Europeans now in the hope that they will join the U.S. later if Iran continues to violate its NPT commitments. "The reason we're comfortable considering this tactically is because, strategically, when the President was in Europe, he found them solid on the big issue: that Iran can't have nuclear weapons," a senior State Department official tells the Washington Post.

If all this sounds disconcertingly familiar, it's because it is. In 2002, Washington thought that if it would bend to European demands and achieve a U.N. consensus on Iraq, the Europeans would bend to Washington if and when Iraq failed to comply with U.N. demands. Then-Secretary of State Colin Powell even extracted a promise of support from his French counterpart Dominique de Villepin, only to discover the French had no intention of supporting a second resolution against Saddam, whatever the circumstances.

The Europeans are being disingenuous again. Sure, they "oppose" Iran's nuclear ambitions. But they have also made the calculation that they can live with a nuclear Iran just as they currently live with a nuclear North Korea. That's why British Foreign Minister Jack Straw says he cannot see "any circumstances in which military action would be justified against Iran ." That's also why German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer recently toasted Iranian-German relations at the opening of Tehran's new embassy in Berlin, treating the nuclear question as a mere hiccup on the road to closer partnership.

As it is, even if the Europeans were sincere, the deal being considered for Iran is certain to fail. The Iranians have already publicly forsworn any interest in nuclear weapons: Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi insists that Islam itself forbids their development. So just what purpose is served by another attestation of Iran's fidelity to the NPT?

Perhaps Tehran's good faith may yet be purchased with (Airbus) planes and WTO membership. But what guarantee is there that the arrangement will last? As we have seen with North Korea, rogue regimes rarely stay bribed, and the most effective way Tehran could up the ante is to continue to develop its nuclear options. At that point, a U.S. military strike would be too risky to contemplate. We also doubt the Iranians would be stopped by a hostile Security Council resolution, even if the Europeans could be brought to support it. "What's the point?" they would say -- and they'd be right.

What's needed now is some genuine realism on Iran . The Europeans are free to believe that a nuclear Iran is a safer bet for them -- a "status quo" power, as they like to say. As for the fact that Western Europe may soon be in range of nuclear-tipped Iranian missiles -- that's their business, as we like to say.

But the U.S., with its stake in Iraq and the Persian Gulf, its opposition to terrorist groups that Iran sponsors, and its commitment to spreading democracy in the Mideast, cannot be indifferent to a nuclear Iran . The problem is not that we have yet to hit on the right mix of carrots and sticks to cajole Iran into responsibility. The problem is that Iran's theocratic regime is by its nature inimical to American interests; any move that extends its life also prolongs the hazard it poses to the U.S.

That does not mean the U.S. should drop diplomacy and take up arms against Iran tomorrow. It does mean that if any headway is to be made, the Administration needs to be absolutely clear about Iran's intentions and Europe's motives. Signing on to Europe's strategy offers one certain outcome: a nuclear Iran.

EU3 Mullahs Pimp Club
Past 26 Years FACTS
Losers :
1) Iranian People
2) American People

Neo Colonialist Winners:
1) Britain
2) France
3) Germany
4) Japan

........

Neo Mafia Winners:
1) China
2) Russia

WHY?

1) In past 26 years EU3 and Japan enjoyed buying cheap oil and adding over 4 dollars taxes to each gallon for covering EU3 government expenses while American people are paying for Persian Gulf Oil protection by US forces, in reality US is subsidizing OIL for EU3 and Japan to destroy American Jobs and economy. American work force and American blood created EU3 welfare. No wonder why the quality of life is decreasing in US while the quality of life is increasing in EU3 despite the fact that the American people are working harder with less pay and vacation.
2) Iranian people lost so much with the list is so big that you can read it in many articles in this site.

Now EU3 is asking Bush Admin to join EU3 Mullahs Pimp Club to discredit recent U.S. progressive policy towards developing countries, EU3 is asking U.S. to move against her National Interest and sell out Pro American Iranian people to EU Big 3 Neo Colonialist.
We don’t know whether Bush Admin will help Evil Neo BRITISH COLONIALISM strategy again or not, the next few months will show the true direction and what President Bush had agreed to in private conversation with EU3.
We don’t know whether Bush Admin will honor his words and follow his correct stated policy or not?
Bush Admin knows better than anybody how fragile and unpopular Mullahs regime is, and how fast they can finish them off in next few months, the fact that so far US government has not directly helped freedom loving Iranian oppositions against EU3 Mullahs Pimp Club, is a valid question and concern? With complete US government support is possible to change the regime with minimum bloodshed.

As a minimum Bush Admin and Congress could provide financial support to facilitate an election among 1 million Iranian American to choose their own leadership for Iranian National Congress to replace the Mullahs. Considering the fact that 1 million Iranians are living in US and they are scattered throughout the country therefore this is a very difficult task for an independent opposition group but this is very easy task for US government with all kind of resources, if president Bush Admin truly wish to help the opposition to Mullahs NOW.

The US actions in near future clarify the true US policy.
Whether US support EU3 or not, Iranian people inside Iran must not wait for what others may decide for them, the Iranian people have no other choice except to fight hard to destroy Mullahs regime and EU3 interest in Iran by stopping Oil flow.
Iranian people must rely on themselves and don't assume any help from outside. As a result of pressure from EU3 and their lobbyists and vast EU3 spy network in Washington any progressive US policy moves to the Flip & Flop state. With constant US Foreign Policy Flip Flop there is not much hope for peaceful regime change in Iran and Iranian have to consider another bloody expensive revolution for freedom and replacing Mullahs regime. Iranian knows better than anybody that the outcome of revolution for freedom is unpredictable. In order freeing homeland to be successful the following enemy targets might be considered: Mullahs, EU3, Japan, Russia and China. Stopping the Oil flow to these countries and breaking Mullahs financial support backbone is the key to success. Due to lack of resources and possible centralized leadeship every small Iranian group must act indpendently for freeing their homeland and look at their own team resources, choose time and date for correct action and decide what your team can do for freeing homeland from corrupt regime and EU3 Neo Colonialist.

Iranian parents if they wish to free their own children from Mullahs prisons they must open the prison doors with their own hands and their own blood at the right time and don't wait and expect UN or Human Rights organization will help them. The Human Rights is not a priority for EU3 and corrupt UN . They love corrupt Mullahs.
Iranian people inside Iran must decide between gradual death under Mullahs regime and destruction of their country or death with honor for freeing their homeland from Mullahs and EU3 control.

Iranian people should prepare for final battle for freeing their homeland and must not forget that their FOREVER leader Cyrus the Great died in battlefield in 530 BC at the age of 60 and not in bed.
Iranian People must learn and follow General George Washington strategy for freeing their homeland from EU3 and their Mullahs Agents. The following image shows the tough battle for freeing homeland.

On December 25, 1776, General George Washington led his troops in a surprise attack against the British, who had settled into winter quarters in New Jersey. The American forces crossed the Delaware River at night and defeated the British troops first at Trenton and then at Princeton. These victories, although minor, dramatically improved the morale of the American forces.

An excellent article. I couldn't find it on the board, so here is the link to another, by Reuel Marc Gerecht, published the same day. One of the very best:

http://www.aei.org/news/newsID.22039,filter.all/news_detail.asp

Incidentally, it is my opinion that despite Robin Wright's wishful thinking, President Bush will not, repeat, will not settle for the bargain sought by Britain and EU.

Dear Cyrus,

the quality of life is DECREASING in Europe.

I cannot yet find a good job and so millions of Italians youth, who are forced to emigrate elsewhere.

As soon as I can, I will emigrate to the US, as HERE WE ARE IN RECESSION.

Read Ion Mihai Pacepa's articles on National Review Online. He talk about Soviet influence on figures such as Yassir Arafat and Abu Nidal. Tho they aren't Mullahs per se, it may be helpful for research.

Stefania's right.

US Unemployment is only 5.5%. It's 12% in Germany, 10% in France and 14% in Italy. UK is comparable to the US. US and UK economies are open capitalist whereas the Continent is basically socialist.

The continent probably needs the income from trade to keep paying thier broken social programs. Instead of freeing the shackles on their economies, Chirac and Schroder just want to add to thier demise.

Disagree with both of you.
1) The US Unemployment is 5.5% because the unemploment benefit is less flexible in US than Germany and Italy.

2) 12% Unemployment in Germany is more related to the fact that some people are abusing the system in Germany.

Reminding Facts :
We should not forget the First World War and Second World War started by Europe.

There are over 6 billion people in this planet and less than 1 billion have good standard of living, the EU3 instaed of thinking how to help developing coutries they are thinking how to exploit them more. Europe destroyed Africa and Middle East and now the EU3 is trying hard to exploit Iran by using corrupt Mullahs to exploit all Iranian resources for good of EU3.
EU3 directly involved to destory many countries in the Middle East and Africa.
The EU3 killed 6 million Jews for their money.
In past 26 years the EU3 helped corrupt Mullahs for cheap oil and destruction of Iran.
The EU3 must be proud of their record.
Do you want to know more about EU3?
Do you want to know how EU3 bankers hiden the stolen Iranian people money by Mullahs for good of EU3 governments?
When all facts comes out there will be nothing except shame for EU3.

As long as EU3 support the Mullahs in Iran we should consider their governments as enemy of freedom and treat the EU3 governments the same as Mullahs government.
