Dear Spenta,

If you recall, there has been a lot of sabotage of Iraqi oil infratsructure...pipelines, etc. by Iranian agents and their terrorist allies.

Seems the chickens have come home to roost.

Fresh clashes rock Ahwaz
SMCCDI (Information Service)
Sep 19, 2005

Fresh clashes rocked, yesterday night, the several areas of the southwestern and oil rich City of Ahwaz. The most violent actions took place in the Shelang-Abad and Malachieh areas.

Angry crowd retaliated to militiamen's brutal attacks by throwing stones and incendiary devices resulting in several damages made to several public buildings and security patrol cars.

Slogans against the Islamic regime and its leaders were shouted by Iranian-Arabs and Iranian-Persians living in the region.

Tens of protesters have been injured or arrested.

The residents intended to make a peaceful protest in order to request justice and better conditions.

The situation is very tense in this city which was scene of deadly riots in August.

Iran's Ahvaz Region Boycotts Regime

September 27, 2005
The Media Line
The Media Line Staff

Arab opposition groups in Iran's Ahvaz region began a 'full boycott' on Monday against what they called the "Iranian occupier." Ahwaz is a region located in western Iran on the border with Iraq, populated mainly by the Arab minority. Opposition groups claim the central regime is illegally occupying their lands and inflicting discriminating policies against them.

They called on the Arab citizens of the region to "boycott all political, economic, social, and cultural cooperation with the occupying enemy." The groups listed a variety of Iranian goods they demanded to boycott, and asked the region's merchants to provide the citizens with alternative merchandise.

This move comes one week after clashes erupted in the region between local citizens and agents of the State Security Forces (SSF). As large crowds gathered, agents of the SSF were brought in to prevent an escalation of the protests. The citizens threw stones at government buildings and vehicles belonging to the SSF, and burned tires in the streets, residents reported.

Earlier this month, bomb attacks on oil installations caused Iran to lose thousands of barrels of oil output. Five oil wells outside Ahwaz City were closed down due to damage caused by the explosions. Each well produced around 1,000 barrels of oil per day for export. The amount lost represents a fraction of the production in the oil-rich but restive region, which is the homeland of some five million Ahwazi Arabs.

The worst violence in the region occurred in 2002, after the conservative-controlled judiciary in the province ordered the security forces to close down shops distributing video tapes and cassettes, popular dances and music in Arabic. At least 300 people were detained at the time after street fights with the police.

British Intelligence Officers Train the Enemies of Iran

September 27, 2005
IRIB English Radio
IRIB World Service

A security official in southern Iran announced that British Intelligence officers, who had a role in the recent bombings in Basra, have been giving their mercenaries extensive military training in order to sabotage the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Fars news agency quoted an Iraqi security official in southern Iraq, Abo Mostafa, as saying that British forces have been directly training the terrorists against Iran in order to create havoc using advanced spying equipment.

This Iraqi official further added that the military training base of these terrorists, who are from London, is located in the south of al-Emareh.

Abo Mostafa reiterated that the Israeli Intelligence agents, The US and the MKO have also joined the British Military Headquarters since a year ago.

He further stressed that the recent bombings in Iran’s Khouzistan Province, had been led by British Intelligence teams.

In March and June Khouzistan bombings in the south of Iran, several innocent civilians were martyred and wounded and a lot of damage was brought upon public and state premises.

So the Brits send war technology to the mullahs and at the same time support the opposition in Iraq? I would believe the story if it said US was training opposition in Iraq - but it's hard to believe Brits would be. A little PR perhaps - Jack Straw shakes hands and drinks tea with the Mullahs, why would he be encouraging their downfall?

c'mon folks, ya'all believe everything you read?.....sure, the IRI would just love to have folks believe the Brits, and the US were behind the terrorism in Iraq...the two Brits that were rescued were involved in counter-terrorism opps...specificly finding and targeting the infra-red triggered, anti-armor munitions that Iranian Hibollah has been smuggling into Iraq from Iran. Their mission was to target the smugglers and prevent those mines from being used against British forces.

As you'all probably know, the IRI has been very involved in the support of Iraqi terrorist activity, infiltration of police, institutions of government, and militia. Support is not just arms, but money...car bombs driven across the Iranian border, the sabotage of infrastructure by Rev guard and IRI sec agents....these are documented activities...

As for any covert support of Iranian opposition...it doesn't take sophisticated spying equipment to blow pipelines.....a little TNT works very well, and I'm sure the Iranian opposition can and would prefer to, blow them without foreign assistance.

that sophisticated spying equipment is for border surveilance.....in Iraq.

Now, any other myths you folks would like busted?

(chuckle)......

Dear Spenta,

In the absence of hard fact, speculation is king...but analysis is a process of logical deduction, probability in context to known facts, and extrapolation of the possible, in terms of cause and effect.

I give you this much...the Brits are not always logical in their actions....I.E. their relations with the IRI over the years as a case in point.

Disciphering covert opps, gets into some deeply twisted territory in the land of spy vs spy....where what is seen on the surface is "cover" and in the case of the two Brits....it may be considered a "given" considering the known facts.

the known unknowns...those possibilities that may be extrapolated....as example: They may have been posing as smugglers, bringing in explosives to determine who was receiving them in Basra....their cover blown...they got into a firefight in a "deal" gone bad.

The unknown unknowns....are pretty hard to define, seeing as how they are unknowable without further information (i.e. facts)....(chuckle).

What is known is that they were a part of a larger opp intended to feret out the smuggling of weapons into Iraq from Iran....that sophisticated surveilance equipment is being deployed to monitor the Iraq/Iran border,
And that IRI has been very active in southern Iraq for many months in a variety of insideous ways.

Since there is no evidence to suggest the Brits are supporting, or in any way responsible for events in Iran....that lies in the realm of the unknown unknown.....fodder for speculation and motivated accusation by those with intent, as the report posted illustrated very clearly in IRI statement...and intent is a matter of logical deduction.

In any case, taking that report at face value would be illogical.

Best,

Oppie
