Subject: Columbia speech is on

Updated frequently: www.iran.org

Sept. 21, 2007: Columbia University speech is on. Bloomberg News service apparently confused last year's cancellation by Columbia of Ahmadinejad with this year. The Monday afternoon speech is on - and has been cleverely scheduled to correspond with the main anti-Ahmadinejad demonstration at UN Plaza in New York organized by the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations.

Newt Gingrich revealed on FoxNews this morning that the New York Times editorial board will host Ahmadinejad for lunch at the Four Seasons hotel on Monday. "That is like hosting Adolf Hitler to lunch in 1940," said Dave Bossie of Citizens United.

Dear Sir,

We have a saying in Persian which is “Birds of the same feather, fly together”.

Ahmadinejad is very well proved that HE is a terrorist murderer, are you acting the same by inviting him to Columbia University to open his dirty mouth to your audience??

A COLUMBIA STUDENT asked how he could effectively protest his university's invitation to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak Monday. My first response was to suggest petitions, e-mails to President Bollinger and the university trustees, letters to the student paper, peaceful protest, and the like. All these are fine. But then I had a second thought. There might be one form of protest that would be effective both in showing appropriate disgust for the Iranian regime, and in shaming the Columbia administration: A total student boycott of Ahmadinejad's speech. Let the Iranian president (and the Columbia president) look out on, and speak to, a sea of empty seats on Monday.

The rationale for a student boycott is simple: The Iranian government is directly involved in killing and wounding American soldiers in Iraq. As a gesture of elementary solidarity with those serving our nation in the military--young men and women, many of them their exact contemporaries--Columbia students should refuse to dignify Ahmadinejad's talk by attending it. Needless to say, Columbia faculty and administrators shouldn't attend either. Some of them will. But this is a chance for the 9/11 generation to show a decency and a sense of honor that some of their elders lack. After all, this is not primarily about Ahmadinejad. Dealing with his regime is mostly a task for our government. This is about us. Columbia students have a chance to shame their elders, redeem the good name of their institution, and make many Americans proud. I urge them to take it

After recent new S-election of President of Islamic Republic in Iran, I remembered an article which was written by Jacob G. Hornberger, Posted June 28, 2004 that I found very interesting and it was about situation surrounding Hitler at the time and how he became what we now know the worst thing that recent history would permit us to remember.

What made this so interesting is the fact that for the first time after Islamist Revolution in Iran, the government has became one entity, the Army has most of the power and they are shaping so rapidly.

It became so obvious since the closure of the newly built airport in Iran some times on May, 2004 by the revolutionary guards which surprised many even the supreme leader Ayatoolah Khamenie.

Iran as we know it is going to make itself isolated and soon they would follow North Korea and perhaps that is their final frontier to keep themselves alive.

The big question is what are we willing to do to stop such a madness? Can we afford to wait and see Tyrant regime get hold of the Nuclear Technology and then deal with it?

Please read the article and look at the similarities in many aspects, remember we can not write the history so many different ways and most the time history has repeatedly has repeated itself.

Enthusiastically,
Alex Agahi

French daily wrote:
French daily: Iran’s Ahmadinejad was key US embassy hostage-taker

Wed. 29 Jun 2005

Iran Focus
Source: http://www.iranfocus.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2687

Paris, Jun. 29 – A principal French daily reported that newly-elected Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was in charge of security at the United States embassy in Tehran after he and fellow radical students loyal to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini took over the compound by force in November 1979.

Libération wrote that Ahmadinejad was a member of Students Following the Line of the Imam [Khomeini] and a leader of the hostage-takers who held American diplomats and embassy staff for 444 days.

“In 1981 he joined the forces of [Assadollah] Lajevardi, the Revolutionary Prosecutor in Evin Prison who executed hundreds of [political] prisoners every night”, the daily added.

According to Libération, Ahmadinejad subsequently joined the Special Forces branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and later became a commander of the IRGC Qods (Jerusalem) Force and was responsible for the destruction of Iran’s opposition.

Former political prisoners who were in Evin Prison in 1981 have said Ahmadinejad was known to them as “Tir Khalas Zan”, literally meaning “he who fires coup de grace”.

The government-run website Baztab quoted allies of outgoing President Mohammad Khatami as confirming that Ahmadinejad fired coup de grace at prisoners who were executed in Evin Prison in the 1980s.

Iran’s clerical leaders have not shown any reaction so far to the growing controversy over the new president’s past involvement in terrorism and human rights violations.

Who Would Defend Iran's Eichmann?
Source: http://www.iranncrfac.org/Pages/Publications/BOOKS/the%20myth%20of/Part%2021.pdf

It remains, after 16 years, the most harrowing experience of my life.
There was nothing unusual about that morning of June 26, 1982, as
I left my house at the usual time to go to the Tehran bureau of Agence
France Presse, where I worked. But unknown to me, I was under
surveillance by a special unit of the Revolutionary Guards. Half way
between home and Shohada (Jaleh) square, where the office was,
the Guards crashed their car into my Renault 4, pulled me out and
after beating me almost unconscious, blindfolded me and took me to
the notorious Evin Prison, where my sister, Guiti, had been executed
40 days earlier.
It was my second visit to Evin Prison. The first was in February,
when I was among a team of journalists who were taken on a
“sightseeing tour” of Evin Prison by the prison’s governor, Assadollah
Lajevardi. Despite all the efforts of Lajevardi and his henchmen to
make the prison look like a hotel and the prisoners a bunch of broken
“repentants,” the three French journalists who accompanied me were
not impressed. With their eyes, the prisoners were telling us that
this was all stage-managed for foreign journalists.
“There is something in the eyes of that man that sends shivers
down your spine,” one of the French journalists said of Lajevardi as
Behzad Naziri *

186
The Myth of Moderation
our car left the prison area. “I am not surprised they call him the
‘Butcher’.”
I could not imagine on that cold February day that in barely
four months’ time, I would be back to Evin, this time as a political
prisoner and not a visiting journalist. This time, there were no clean
cells, no smiling wardens, no lavish meals, no inmates strolling on
the lawn with their families. Blindfolded, I was taken straight to
the notorious torture rooms of Evin, where the agonizing cries of
prisoners being whipped, the acrid smell of burnt flesh, the hysterical
shrieking of children seeing their mothers under torture and a
hundred other sensations gave one a surreal sense of entering
another world. There it was that after a few hours, peeping under
the blindfold, I saw “the Butcher” again. This time his real self,
standing atop a woman prisoner, kicking her head and firing
questions at her while his torturers were doing all sorts of things to
her half-dead body...
My memories of Lajevardi in Evin Prison run long and deep, so
you can just imagine how I felt when on Sunday afternoon, August
23, 1998, I heard the news that the “Butcher of Evin” had been killed
in the Grand Bazaar of Tehran by Mojahedin resistance units. The
feeling of joy, relief, revenge, and much more that cannot be put in
words. But I was not alone in this. Millions of Iranians shared that
moment with me.
The news of the death of the most infamous henchman in the
clerical regime - also nicknamed the mullahs’ Eichmann - was greeted
with much joy and relief across the country and in Iranian
communities around the world. For almost two decades Lajevardi
symbolized the most gruesome crimes of the clerical regime against
humanity. He bore direct responsibility for the execution of tens of
thousands of political prisoners, the introduction and systematic use
in Iranian prisons of more than 170 forms of physical and
psychological torture, the systematic rape of women prisoners, even
teenage girls, as a means of shattering prisoners’ morale and
breaking their resistance, and the list goes on.
It was not surprising, therefore, to see all Iranians expressing
outrage and anger when the regime’s president, Mohammad
Khatami, issued a statement only hours after Lajevardi’s death,
heaping praise on the chief executioner and calling for the “swift
187

punishment” of those who killed him.
Until February 1998, Lajevardi was the Head of the State
Prisons Organization. After his resignation, he maintained a
considerable influence in the administration of prisons and torture
centers as one of the closest aides to the supreme leader, Ali
Khamenei, and mullahs’ President Mohammad Khatami. Lajevardi’s
opinion was always sought in any new campaign against the
Mojahedin and other dissidents.
Lajevardi began his political activities in the early 1960s when
he joined the Coalition of Islamic Associations, an extremist
fundamentalist group of Khomeini’s followers. He was arrested in
1969 for his part in the bombing of the Tehran offices of the Israeli
Airlines, El Al.
In the shah’s prison, Mojahedin political prisoners under the
leadership of Mr. Massoud Rajavi, boycotted Lajevardi because of
his extremely fundamentalist and backward views.
With the overthrow of the shah’s regime and the mullahs’ ascent
to power, Khomeini appointed Lajevardi as the Islamic Revolutionary
Prosecutor of Tehran. He was recommended for the job by the leading
figure in the ruling Islamic Republican Party, the then Chief Justice
Mohammad Hossein Beheshti.
Lajevardi was appointed to this senior position without any
academic or practical background in law. After his death, a clerical
official told the state television: “The Imam (Khomeini) appointed
Mr. Lajevardi to this job so that he would uproot and annihilate the
Mojahedin and the counter-revolutionaries in Iran.”
Lajevardi turned the Islamic Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office
into one of the most dreaded apparatus of repression, unleashing a
campaign of ruthless persecution and inquisition against the
opposition, especially the Mojahedin. Even before the government
began its campaign of mass executions in June 1981, Lajevardi led
armed mobs in attacks on Mojahedin offices and centers. Under his
supervision, more than 3,000 Mojahedin activists were jailed and
tortured before June 1981.
But the horror of Lajevardi’s inhuman innovations reached its
zenith after June 1981, when Khomeini’s infamous fatwa against
the Mojahedin effectively became the law. In his decree, Khomeini
had made it a crime punishable by death to be a member or a
188

supporter of the Mojahedin
These are among the long list of crimes perpetrated by Lajevardi:
1. As the Revolutionary Prosecutor of Tehran and the governor
of Evin prison, and acting on Khomeini’s personal orders, Lajevardi
was directly responsible for the execution of tens of thousands of
political prisoners in the 1980s, mainly from the Mojahedin. On
February 8, 1982, Lajevardi commanded the attack on the
Mojahedin’s central base in Tehran. He appeared on the state
television that evening holding in his arms the infant son of
Resistance Leader Massoud Rajavi and his wife, Ashraf, over the
dead bodies of Ashraf and Moussa Khiabani, Mr. Rajavi’s deputy in
Iran.
2. In prison, Lajevardi raped or executed hundreds of women,
who included teenage girls and elderly mothers.
3. He personally tortured political prisoners and fired coup de
grace at executed prisoners.
4. Lajevardi personally tortured and executed Mrs. Sakineh
Mohammadi Ardehali (Mother Zakeri), 60, Mrs. Akram Islami, 70,
Mrs. Malek-Taj Hakamian, 50, Mrs. Arasteh Qolivand (Mother
Shayesteh), 57, Mrs. Rezvan Rafipour (Mother Rezvan), and Mrs.
Massoumeh Shadmani (Mother Kabiri), Mrs. Massoumeh Azodanlou
(younger sister of Iranian Resistance’s President-elect Maryam
Rajavi), Mrs. Zohreh Tabrizi, Mrs. Qodsi Mohammadi and Mrs.
Shahla Hariri-Motlaq.
5. He was among the main planners of Gohardasht Prison and
expanded solitary cells in order to intensify the torture of political
prisoners and break their resistance.
6. Lajevardi formed criminal gangs and death squads consisting
of Revolutionary Guards and criminal agents in order to assault and
assassinate Mojahedin activists and political prisoners after their
release from jail.
7. He made it a common practice in prisons to torture prisoners
in front of their parents, husbands or wives and children.
8. Lajevardi devised a plan to set up forced labor camps for
political prisoners on a nation-wide scale.
189
Who Would Defend Iran's Eichmann?
Lajevardi in his own words
• Lajevardi’s press conference as Director of State Prisons:
“If we were to conduct medical tests on all prisoners, we would
have to pay the Ministry of Health some 500 billion rials for 468,000
prisoners... To manage this number of inmates, we have converted
all facilities available ranging from libraries, mosques, cultural clubs
etc., into prisons.” 1
* Lajevardi’s address to Evin prisoners in 1981:
“The religious judge has issued a religious verdict ruling that
we should punish you so much so that you would either repent or
die.” 2
* “Until we eliminate the very last one of these (Mojahedin),
there will no compromise in the nature of the Revolutionary
Prosecutors. So long as they still have some energy, we will fight
them and will not rest until we wipe out all of them.” 3
* “There is no need for long trials for those whose crimes are
obvious or those who themselves have confessed that they used
weapons and killed people. Two hours after they are arrested, we
complete the trial, issue and carry out the verdict. We are hopeful to
uproot the (Mojahedin) very soon.” 4
* “There are no political prisoners in Iran. Our only problem
are the common criminals.” 5
* “The corrupt grouplets must be eliminated. Since they are
fighting the Islamic Republic, according to a religious decree,
everyone belonging to them must be executed because they wage
war on God. No member of the Mojahedin must feel safe in this
country. They must always be fearful and on the run...” 6
Worldwide notoriety
Over the past two decades, hundreds of reports and articles have
appeared in the international press on Lajevardi’s central role in
190
The Myth of Moderation
the clerical regime’s crimes against humanity. The Washington Post’s
article, titled “Iranian Prison Horror,”7 was typical among them:
The malevolent face of Assadollah Lajevardi, the new directorgeneral
of Iran’s prisons, says it all about human rights in Iran.
They don’t exist.
President Hashemi Rafsanjani has appointed this man, whose
reputation as the top torturer of Tehran is uncontested. Lajevardi
should have been tried or at least banished for his bloody excesses
during the reign of the Ayatollah Khomeini. Instead, he is overseeing
all prisons in Iran, proving that Khomeini’s death and Rafsanjani’s
ascension to power changed nothing...
Lajevardi is widely known in Iran as the ‘Butcher of Evin’- a
nickname earned when he presided over Iran’s most notorious prison,
Evin, in the foothills outside Tehran. It is one of 70 prisons in and
around Tehran alone and one of 600 throughout Iran.
A former lingerie peddler, Lajevardi took the Evin assignment
like a rattlesnake takes the exposed flesh. He packed 60 prisoners
to a cell at Evin, executed thousands and tortured thousands more
in ways that normal people could not conceive.
He and other officials, including a member of the Iranian
parliament, raped female prisoners, including virgins whom
Khomeini wanted sullied before they were sent to the next life.
The innovation that earned Lajevardi the “butcher” nickname
was his practice of draining the blood of Iranians on death row. The
blood was used as plasma for Iranian soldiers fighting the long war
with Iraq. Lajevardi was careful to leave his victims just enough
blood so they were conscious when they went before the firing squad...
“Butcher of Evin” killed in attack
CNN, Aug. 23: In Iran two gunmen killed Iran’s former general
prosecutor in Tehran’s grand bazaar. The Baghdad-based Iranian
opposition, the Mojahedin Khalq, claimed responsibility for the
Sunday killing of Assadollah Lajevardi, known to his enemies as the
butcher of Evin.
Lajevardi was the one-time head of the notorious Evin prison in
northern Tehran and was blamed for ordering the death of tens of
thousands of political prisoners ten years ago in the summer of 1988.

“Butcher of Evin” shot dead in Tehran
Tehran, Aug. 23 (AFP) - Assadollah Lajevardi, Iran’s former
prison chief known as “The Butcher,” was shot dead here Sunday in
an attack claimed by the country’s leading armed opposition group.
For his repressive methods, he was dubbed as “the Butcher of
Tehran”.
After the Islamists came to power, he served a stint as prosecutor
general, a position which he used to wage a repressive and bloody
campaign against “counter-revolutionaries.”
Later he was put in charge of Evin prison, where he was accused
of overseeing widespread acts of torture and other human rights
violations in the 1980s, when the regime waged a merciless campaign
against opposition groups.
Lajevardi was promoted in 1989 to the post of director of the
country’s prison system.

Iran's President Mahmood Ahmadinejad is scheduled to speak at Columbia University on Monday September 24th. This arrangement is not accidental. The event would have not been possible without the tireless and focused efforts of the well known Tehran advocate Dr. Gary Sick, an influential figure in Columbia .

As it has already been examined in a recent article "Pro-Ayatollahs Disinformation and Manipulation Campaign by Washington Think Tankers"1, the Iranian lobby in US could not exist without generous assistance of some American interest groups and proxies such as Dr Gary Sick, the American Iranian Council in which Sick is a board member of, and his circle of cohorts.

In the past two decades Dr. Sick has been a tenacious activist in advancing the interests of Iranian Ayatollahs. His dossier of friendship with Tehran includes positions such as the directorship of The Gulf/2000 Project established in 1993 in the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University . This project is mainly financed by the oil industry and is focused in engaging Tehran .

When Mohammad Jafar Mahallati, the former Iranian deputy foreign minister and ambassador to the UN, was terminated from his official positions to commence his duties in "unofficial diplomacy", Dr. Sick's active influence secured him a position in Columbia from 1991 to 1997. The list of Gary Sick's collaborations with Mahallati is long. 2

In 1997, Dr. Gary Sick worked intensely with Hossein Alikhani, an Iranian closely related to the Iran 's ruling mullahs, to found the "Center for World Dialogue". Gary Sick is a founding board member in this organization.3 Alikhani is a felon who in 1992, pled guilty to the charges of violating anti-terrorist sanctions 4 and spent some time in US federal prisons. Recently Iran 's Ayatollahs awarded him the deed for the US embassy complex in Tehran5 for his pain and suffering in American prisons. The collaboration between Sick and Alikhani has been long and multifaceted and has been well received by the mullahs in Iran .

Dr. Sick has shown a distinct quality. He, under all circumstances, has been able to discover a reason to support the Iranian theocratic regime. For example, under the "moderate" president Rafsanjani, the wave of Iranian international terrorism reached new summits and the bombing of the Jewish center in Argentina was accompanied by hundreds of assassinations against the Iranian dissidents abroad. Dr. Sick however cleverly discovered a creative explanation6:

"The pattern of actions suggests that these practices originated in the early 1980s, when the Islamic leadership faced a massive domestic terrorist threat. The Iranian response to this threat was apparently to establish one or more covert units, possibly buried deep within the intelligence agencies, to hunt down and destroy perceived threats to the revolution. This kind of shadow warfare is hardly unique to Iran . But the evidence suggests that these units in Iran have acquired a life of their own, launching operations on an opportunistic basis with little interference by the central authorities and no apparent coordination with Iran 's foreign policy agenda."

For Dr. Sick, the sophisticated machine of Iranian terror is the same as the Japanese soldiers lost in Pacific's remote islands during the World War II. Similarly, Dr. Sick's view of the Iranian sponsored terrorism in the Middle East is very imaginative: 7

" Iran 's support for terrorist activities carried out by Hamas is a matter of dispute. Iran claims that its support for Hamas is no different than the Saudi's support. They give money for clinics and medical needs, but that money is used for terrorism. Iran has a different view on this. So it's a matter of dispute. As for the peace process, at this point Iran feels vindicated. They have been saying all along that the Israeli-Palestinian deals are a sham and that Israel will not keep its promises. With what Netanyahou has done so far, Iran 's position is getting more support from the Arab states."

In a very interesting article in 1996, Sick advised the US administration to lower its expectations from the Iranian government especially concerning the human rights because according to him: 8

“The revolution is over, and the fiery slogans have a hollow ring. Khomeini said the revolution was not about the price of melons, but it turns out that it is! The demonstrations in Iran are not about clerical rule or a return to the monarchy or even about democracy and human rights. “

Dr. Sick’s support to the Iranian regime does naturally include the ultra-fascist president Ahmadinejad. After his first appearance before the UN assembly in 2005 and his shocking declarations, Sick found new qualities in the president and told the CFR interviewer Gwertzman: 9

"I was taken with the fact that Ahmadinejad is an engineer with no foreign experience at all, who has only been president for about a month. I think he learned his brief pretty well. He handled himself well not only in the speech but also in his discussions with CNN and Time magazine and others who had interviews with him. I think he came through with some constructive ideas. … He's a very prideful man, and I think that sense of Iranian pride is one that may be very difficult for the West—and the United States in particular—to deal with."

On September 24th, that "prideful man", responsible for the daily torture of his people, will talk in Columbia . He needs public relations support for his nuclear and regional domination ambitions. Count on Dr. Sick and his usual circle of friends to be there and extend a supportive hand. All the same, Columbia University 's tacit acceptance of this advocacy can not be justified under the disguise of academic freedom.

Please read the following American Congress for Truth Petition demanding that Columbia University President Lee Bollinger reverse his decision and not allow Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak at Columbia University on Monday. Then fill out the information that follows to add your name to this important petition that we will deliver to President Bollinger on Monday.

(ACT Privacy Policy: We value your privacy and we will not give, rent or sell your contact information to any other organization. By providing us this information you help us ensure that everyone signs the petition only once.)

President Bollinger,
Whereas Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism…

Whereas its President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has repeatedly threatened the safety and security of America…

Whereas Ahmadinejad was involved in holding Americans hostage at our embassy in Tehran in 1979…

Whereas he has called for Israel to be “wiped off the map”…

Whereas his country is working to secure nuclear weaponry in defiance of the Free World…

Whereas he's providing weaponry and support to kill our brave men and women fighting for democracy in the Middle East…

Whereas allowing him to speak at Columbia University empowers his terrorist regime and Islamic radicals everywhere…

And whereas you consider his ideas "odious" and "repugnant"…

We the undersigned, in the name of freedom-loving people throughout America, call on you to reverse your decision to allow him to speak on Monday, September 24th, at your prestigious university.

Questions For Ahmadinejad?

In past few years the Islamist regime were making outrageous comments against Israel , helping terrorism in Iraq as a diversion to change the focus from Kazemi, Human Rights violations, executions, internal problems …. in Iran to other external issues ….

Hope journalists wakeup and ask the following embarrassing questions from Ahmadinejad and treat him as a Thug and not President :

1) How many Iranian political prisoners have been executed by Ahmadinejad?
2) Ahmadinejad as part of Qods force involved in how many Terror outside Iran?
3) Is this Ahmadinejad photo with Ayatollah Khalkhali, how long did he work for him and what was his responsibilities, who did he execute?
4) Is the prerequisite for getting to high positions in Iran, is to be Torture and Terror Master?

Please post on campus for: All students attending Mr. Ahmadi Nejad speech at Columbia University

SOME UNUSUAL WAYS TO DEAL WITH THIS MAD MAN!

LET US SHOW MR. AHMADI NEJAD, FACIST MURDERING DICTATOR WHAT DEMOCRACY IS ALL ABOUT!

Dear Students attending the butcher Ahmadi Nejad speech. Please show your solidarity with your fellow Iranian students and women under torture and in Evin prison by doing the following acts;

Please remember action is 10,000 times louder than words!

1. if you know of a streaker who is willing to streak, flash and run to gain instant notoriety, please have him/her attend and encourage them to do his/her act in front of Ahmadi Nejad. Millions are watching this event live on TV!

He most probably will be fasting and this action will break his fast instantly, damning him in front of his beloved Imam's and Mullah's!

2. Female students who are attending, please dress as little as it is possible to dress, expose much of your body.

Under this man the Mullah's police in Iran will arrest and beat any women, even senior citizens for having even a bit of their hair exposed. Let alone parts of the body like arms and legs!

3. Have pages of "Satanic Verses" by author, Salman Rushdie re-printed and give it as handout/gift to his entourage attending his speech.

4. Female students, remember 1970's women's liberation Movement? Please do burn your bra's front of Mr. Ahmadi Nejad!

This action will be in support for your bonded sisters in Iran who are constantly being beaten, tortured and imprisoned for requesting equal rights with men.

5. All of you try your best to shake hands with Ahmadi Nejad. Specially the female students. This action will also break his fasting and will bring major protest from his Mullah Bosses in Iran.

Please try to do your best to make it very uncomfortable while he is among you. Show him what true democracy is all about.

Afterall, back home, for simplest student complaint, they will land in jail and sometime hanged!

You should compensate them with your above mentioned acts!

God Bless you, Justice and Freedom of our country.

A disgrace at Columbia University.

Source: http://www.aish.com/jewishissues/jewishsociety/Hosting_Ahmadinejad.asp

Two days ago, Columbia University announced that next Monday, September 24, Taazi (Incorrect Usage of "Iranian" By Journalist ...) President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will speak and participate in a question and answer session with university faculty and students at Columbia. According to the university statement, "This opportunity for faculty and students to engage the President of Iran came about after Ambassador Mohammad Khazaee at the Taazi (Incorrect Usage of "Iranian" By Journalist ...) Mission to the United Nations initiated contact with Columbia through a member of the faculty, Richard Bulliet, who is a specialist on Iran."

So at the request of the Taazi (Incorrect Usage of "Iranian" By Journalist ...) government, Columbia University will host the president of a terrorist regime which is right now responsible for the deaths of American soldiers on the field of battle. Indeed, this distinguished guest, who is so honoring Columbia by his presence, will be introduced by no one less than the president of Columbia, Lee Bollinger.

But not to worry: "President Bollinger will introduce the event by challenging President Ahmadinejad on a number of his controversial statements and his government's policies."

Indeed, Bollinger manfully proclaimed in the university statement: "I also wanted to be sure the Iranians understood that I would myself introduce the event with a series of sharp challenges to the President on issues including:

* the Taazi (Incorrect Usage of "Iranian" By Journalist ...) President's denial of the Holocaust;

* his public call for the destruction of the state of Israel;

* his reported support for international terrorism that targets innocent civilians and American troops;

* Iran's pursuit of nuclear ambitions in opposition to international sanction;

* his government's widely documented suppression of civil society and particularly of women's rights; and

* his government's imprisoning of journalists and scholars, including one of Columbia's own alumni, Dr. Kian Tajbakhsh."

One can imagine President Ahmadinejad nervously preparing for President Bollinger's "sharp challenges," and wondering whether those challenges will detract from the propaganda victory Bollinger's invitation has given him. He's undoubtedly concluded it won't be a big problem.

It should go without saying that the appropriate thing to do, when the Taazi (Incorrect Usage of "Iranian" By Journalist ...) ambassador called Columbia, would have been to say: No thanks. Or just, No. But that would be to expect too much of one of today's Ivy League university presidents.

Now there will be further legitimization of the notion that Holocaust denial is a subject of legitimate and reasonable debate.

In fact, the introduction with "sharp challenges" by Bollinger makes the situation even more of a disgrace. Now there will be the appearance of real dialogue, of Ahmadinejad answering challenges, which further legitimizes the notion that Holocaust denial, say, is a subject of legitimate and reasonable debate.

But if Bollinger had chosen to deny Ahmadinejad's request, or not to dignify Ahmadinejad's appearance by his presence -- then Bollinger would have been denied the opportunity to lecture us, in Columbia's press release, to this effect: "It is a critical premise of freedom of speech that we do not honor the dishonorable when we open the public forum to their voices. To hold otherwise would make vigorous debate impossible. That such a forum could not take place on a university campus in Iran today sharpens the point of what we do here....This is America at its best."

Actually, this is a liberal university president at his stupidest.

Meanwhile: As Columbia welcomes Ahmadinejad to campus, Columbia students who want to serve their country cannot enroll in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at Columbia. Columbia students who want to enroll in ROTC must travel to other universities to fulfill their obligations. ROTC has been banned from the Columbia campus since 1969. In 2003, a majority of polled Columbia students supported reinstating ROTC on campus. But in 2005, when the Columbia faculty senate debated the issue, President Bollinger joined the opponents in defeating the effort to invite ROTC back on campus.

A perfect synecdoche for too much of American higher education: they are friendlier to Ahmadinejad than to the U.S. military.

A note from the Editors:

PROTEST AGAINST AHMADINEJAD AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

On Monday, September 24th from 1-3 pm , demonstrators will be gathering in protest directly across from the Columbia University hall where Taazi (Incorrect Usage of "Iranian" By Journalist ...) President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be speaking. The protest will be held at 116th and Broadway. Students from neighboring universities, including New York University, Queens College, Brooklyn College, Rutgers University, Yeshiva University, Fordham University, Baruch College and Hunter College are mobilizing in solidarity with the Columbia University students who will be rallying on the campus grounds. This event is co-sponsored by Hasbara Fellowships of Aish Hatorah, Stand With Us, The David Project, The Zionist Organization of America, Amcha, Young Israel, and others.

The protest is in direct opposition to the vitriol espoused by the Taazi (Incorrect Usage of "Iranian" By Journalist ...) president, as well as the invitation extended by Columbia University president Lee Bollinger for Ahmadinejad to appear at the university. Students and community activists aim to show Ahmadinejad that the young future leadership of America will not tolerate his genocidal threats, nuclear program, suppression of human rights, denial of the Holocaust, and inflammatory demeanor.

Who Is a Taazi?
Being a Taazi is a frame of mind. Being a Taazi is a reflection of one's heart. Genetics have nothing to do with it. One is not born a Taazi by race or place of birth. One becomes a Taazi by choice.
A Taazi is someone who holds the nomadic Bedouin way of life and code of ethics above that of common human decency. A Taazi is someone who is willing to die and kill in the name of Allah. A Taazi is someone who has turned a deaf ear to his own heart and only listens to the call of hate and violence. A Taazi is someone who feels compelled to carry the Bedouin Barbarian Bylaws to ever-expanding spheres of servitude.

Islamic Barbarian Theocracy: Invaders and Occupiers of Iran Refer To It As TAAZI:
The name Islamic Republic of Iran is a misnomer. There is nothing Iranian about this regime, and these terrorists should not be allowed to use the word "Iran" to describe their regime. From now on, we the people refuse to refer to this illegitimate, tyrannical, barbaric, immoral, and foreign occupying force as "IRI," and will simply refer to it as the Islamic Republic, which is the epitome of all that is Taazi. The best examples of traitor-Taazis are the pro-Islamic Republic Taazis.

WE, the undersigned, as members of the civilized freedom-loving people of the world protest and demanding from responsible journalists, writers, scholars and free world leaders to be fair with understanding about truth by differentiating Iranian people from TAAZI ruling class. Call urgently to refer to Iran and Iranian people correctly in their statements, News Reports headline, articles and recognize the following facts:
- Iranian is a culture.
- Iranian people should be considered as hostages and prisoners of TAAZI Islamofascist Clerical Regime without any control over the key decisions and their own destination.
- Iran has lost her Sovereignty as nation in past 27 years under Taazi occupation.
- " Iran Says" in the News report must be changed to "TAAZI Says"
- President-elect Ahmadinejad in News report must be changed to "TAAZI President Ahmadinejad" or "TAAZI President-thug Ahmadinejad"
- Iran's Foreign Minister, in News report must be changed to TAAZI Foreign Minister .
- Freedom-loving Iranian people are considering the TAAZI Islamofascist as illegitimate system.
- Iranian people are declaring any contracts with the TAAZI Islamofascist as illegitimate and it is subject to review after Iran becomes FREE nation.
- Freedom-loving Iranian people are declaring the TAAZI as Terror/Torture Masters and ask the FREE world not to negotiate with Terrorists and Hostage Takers.
- Freedom-loving Iranian people are declaring the TAAZI Islamofascist Clerics and their TAAZI Supporters as a small minority and the Virus of Iranian Society.
- Freedom-loving Iranian People condemn wasted 20 Billion Dollars TAAZI Islamofascist Nuclear adventures that are not peaceful and is used by the TAAZI Mad Mullahs, TAAZI Revolutionary Guard, Terror and Torture Masters as an instrument for taking the Iranian people and world as their hostages.

What was New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg thinking? Apparently the former Democrat believed that escorting Iran’s Hitler-wannabe president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to the site of the September 11 memorial at Ground Zero would generate a terrific photo op.

“Here I am with world leaders,” that type of thing.

After all, Bloomberg has already made his appearance at the “World Leaders Forum” at Columbia University, so he was in the zone. And last year, U.S. News & World Report crowned him as one of America’s “best leaders.”

But within hours of the announcement by New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly on Wednesday that the city was “in discussions” with the Secret Service to escort the Mighty Midget of Tehran to Ground Zero, Bloomberg’s office issued a hasty retraction.

No way, nada, not going to happen, they said. Kelly had spoken based on “outdated information.”

Actually, what happened was that someone told the Mayor that the Tweed Hall switchboard had been paralyzed by calls from outraged citizens who were responding to appeals from talk radio hosts, bloggers, Jewish organizations, and human rights groups. Feeling the political heat, Bloomberg backed down.

So much for this man’s presidential aspirations.

Bloomberg, of course, is not the only U.S. politician who thinks there’s an audience for cozying up to dictators. We’ve already seen Dennis of Damascus and Tehran Tom. And let’s not forget Nancy Pelosi’s journey on the road to Damascus, just in time for Passover and Easter.

If Bloomberg still clings to that outdated notion of political accountability, Columbia University president Lee Bollinger does not. He has maintained the speaking invitation for the boy president at Columbia’s World Forum – cleverly scheduled to coincide with a protest organized by major Jewish organizations at UN Plaza. (Guess where the press will go? If you guessed, to cover the Jews, guess again).

Bollinger actually had the chutzpah to tell Columbia undergrads that Ahmadinejad’s visit would be “a celebration of the university and its values,” according to notes taken at a rowdy meeting with student groups on Thursday afternoon.

The students soon discovered that the invitation to Iran’s Hitler wannabe had been convoyed by Richard Bulliet, a former board member of the American-Iranian Council, once the foremost promoter of Tehran’s viewpoint in Washington (now overtaken by NIAC, of course).

Also instrumental in promoting a “dialogue” with Tehran’s murderous regime is Gary Sick, the former deputy National Security Council advisor to Jimmy Carter who so gloriously managed the 1979-1981 hostage crisis.

Sick’s “Gulf 2000” Project, created in the early 1990s and fueled by Exxon-Mobil, George Soros and the Ford Foundation, among others, focused from the start on “engaging” Tehran. When Rafsanjani was president, Sick and his crowd promoted Rafsanjani as the great turbaned hope who would make Iran safe for U.S. business.

Gary Sick conceals his lobbying activity behind a cloak of cuteness, claiming that access to his website, emails, and electronic library “is limited to scholars and analysts with a professional interest in and association with the Persian Gulf region.” Critics and hostile reporters, stay away.

When Khatami took over in 1997, Sick began working with Hossein Alikhani, an Iranian businessman who spent time in a U.S. prison on felony charges after pleading guilty to violating anti-terrorist sanctions.

With Alikhani’s support, Sick founded the “Center for World Dailogue” in 1999 to promote rapprochement (read: business) between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Grateful for these efforts, a Tehran court signaled last year that it planned to award Alkhani the deed to the U.S. embassy in Tehran, supposedly to compensate him for damages he suffered at the hands of the Great Satan.

And among the apologists for the regime in Tehran, let’s not forget Washington, DC Episcopal bishop John Bryson Chane, who is planning to grovel to Qom on October 7 to meet with former president Khatami to discuss “theology.”

Bishop Chane disgraced himself last year by inviting Khatami to the National Cathedral and seems to believe that radical Shiite Islamic fundamentalism is just like Christianity, at least the kind practiced by Orthodox Anglicans or evangelical Christians.

In an interview with the Washington Times yesterday, the Freedom Center’s David Horowitz called Ahmadinejad’s visit to his alma mater “a disgrace.”

So what can Americans do?

• If you live in New York, join the street protests

Ahmadinejad addresses Columbia at 1:30 pm on Monday, but the media is gearing up for a rip-roaring street protest centered around 116th and Broadway. The mainline American Jewish groups will be gathering at UN plaza at 12:30 pm on Monday. Take your pick.

• Restrict Ahmadinejad’s visa.

Congress can pass special legislation next week to restrict the travel of Iranian government leaders the next time they come to the United Nations. The current rules restrict Iranian government representatives to a 25-mile radius of New York City, without specific prior approval.

That 25-mile radius, of course, makes it easy for Ahmadinejad or his successor to visit Columbia, Ground Zero, or to meet and greet with Iranian regime supporters in the New York metropolitan area. This should and can be stopped immediately. Iran’s leaders should be restricted to the UN building, the Iranian consulate in New York, and their hotel. Period.

As I peer into my crystal ball, I can discern just a handful of members of the Party of Surrender (plus Libertarian Ron Paul) who would oppose such restrictions, once the phone calls start flooding their offices.

• Demand reciprocity from Iran.

If Iranian leaders can come to the United States and make public statements (which they will do at the UN, even under the above proposal), then Congress should demand similar access so that a senior U.S. government official can address the Iranian Majles, Tehran University, or similar gatherings.

Imagine the panic of Iran’s senior leaders (okay, and the Secret Service) if the President or Vice-President were allowed to speak at Tehran University to deliver America’s message of freedom and self-determination. A high-risk proposal – but one worth considering.

• Demand that the UN enforce genocide convention

Congressmen Steven Rothman (D-NJ) and Mark Kirk (R-IL) introduced House Concurrent Resolution 21 on Jan. 9, 2007, calling on the UN Security Council to charge Ahmadinejad with violating the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide and the UN Charter because of his calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. This wise legislation has 103 cosponsors and is being supported by the Zionist Organization of America, among others.

• Sue Columbia University

The Coalition for Jewish Concerns (AMCHA) is considering legal action against Columbia University to challenge the university’s refusal to allow outside demonstrators to attend the Ahmadinejad speech.

As AMCHA national president Rabbi Avi Weiss wrote, “This limitation on non-University affiliated persons is particularly inappropriate here where the speaker and his considerable entourage is not affiliated with Columbia University.”

• Alumni boycott

Although Columbia depends mainly on its huge endowment and on big alumni donors, nevertheless a grass roots alumni boycott of the university could have an impact. Stay tuned, as I hear that alumni groups across the country are mulling action on this front.

• Congressional ban on federal grants

“If Hitler were in the United States and wanted a platform from which to speak… we would certainly invite him,” the Dean of Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs, John H, Coatsworth, told FoxNews.

Is this merely an expression of Columbia’s respect for the 1st amendment? No way. Columbia seems to likes proponents of genocide – past and present - but won’t allow Minuteman leader Jim Gilchrest onto campus to talk about securing our borders, or Columbia alum David Horowitz to address academic freedom.

Congress should examine the conditions for federal grants to the University, and consider suspending all grants to Columbia programs that openly defy the United States Constitution.

• Sign the petition

Brigitte Gabriel’s American Congress for Truth has launched an on-line petition to stop Ahmadinejad from speaking at Columbia, and plans to forward the names of signatories (more than 8,000 as of Sunday afternoon) to Columbia president Lee Bolinger.

• Send the lawyers

My favorite (okay, barring a non-stop flight to Gitmo) would be to serve the boy president with a subpoena as a material witness in the billion dollar lawsuit brought against the Islamic Republic of Iran by former U.S. diplomats held hostage in Tehran from 1979-1981.

As I reported at the time of Ahmadinejad’s first visit to New York two years ago, several former hostages have positively identified the boy president as their most vicious interrogator during their 444 ordeal.

Former assistant air attaché David Roeder described in excruciating detail Ahmadinejad’s tactics in a June 2005 interview with the German newsweekly Der Spiegel.

“[Ahmadinejad] was present at at least a third of my personal interrogations, which took place nightly for a little over a month early on in the hostage-taking situation,” Roeder said. “He seemed to be calling the shots, but from the background. The interrogators would ask a question and it would then be translated from Farsi into English by a woman interpreter.”

Most chilling was the very personal nature of the threat Ahmadinejad used in an effort to “break” Roeder.

“Because I was not cooperating, they threatened that they were going to kidnap my handicapped son and send various pieces of him -- fingers and toes is what they mentioned -- to my wife if I didn't start cooperating. You don't forget somebody who is involved in something like that.”

No, you don’t forget somebody who is involved in something like that.

But in its infinite wisdom, the State Department last year intervened to block efforts by attorneys for the 52 hostages and their families from seeking damages from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

These days, of course, Ahmadinejad doesn’t make individual threats such as those he made to Roeder. Today he merely threatens to “destroy America” and to “wipe Israel off the map.”

At Columbia, of course, that passes for free speech.

Just don’t hold up a “Support the Troops” banner – or Columbia’s dean might call security.
