Our 'Persian' arabic script, is in my view, one of the reasons why Iran is always thought to be an Arab country.
To further distance ourselves from Arab influence, it's my belief that a change in script (after our victory in freeing Iran of course ) would represent that just that.
I think it was Tadjikistan, whick speaks a version of Persian which has changed its script from Arabic to Latin. I think this is also a good alternative for Iran in the future.
There's also a site that has already developed a Persian script with Latin letters: UniPers and Iranian languages
Any thoughts on this? _________________ Zoroaster's philosophy: Good thoughts, good words, good deeds.

I am not a member so I can't vote. But I say uni-pers is the most viable alternative. |

changing the alphabet back to old Pahlavi (Sassanian Alphabet) would be great. Except, it would not really work. They would have to change the writing on EVERYTHING in the country. Like road signs. Do you have any clue how many road signs are in Tehran alone? However, if it got started being taught in grade one as maybe a second language (instead of Arabic which is taught in Iranian elementary schools from grade 3), it could take over in a couple of generations. |

It took Turkey only a decade to replace Arabic script to Latin. |

in that case, i'll go with pre-arabic alphabet, the Pahlavi alphabet. I think if the alphabet is replaced with Latin, I mean we will be losing even more of our culture. (Don't forget we have been fighting the Latins (ie Romans) for longer than we have been struggling with the arabs ) |
