Teacher activists and students arrested in several cities on 3rd day of strike

SMCCDI (information Service)
Mar 8, 2004

http://www.daneshjoo.org/smccdinews/article/publish/article_4139.shtml

Several teachers and students have been arrested on the 3rd day of strike in the cities of Tehran, Ardebil, Esfahan, Yazd and Hamedan. The regime's plainclothes agents have proceeded to the arrests, during the late hours of night, after the detailed identification of the strikers and their supportive students.

The regime's "educational" authorities and provincial cities' local officials who have been dispatched to calm the situation and to avoid a radicalization of the situation have been reported as using the tactic of threats and false promises in order to force the teachers to resume work. Rumors of "Attempt to Murder the Strikers" and the "Deliverance of Authorization to Shoot" have been spread by circles affiliated to the regime while its recognized officials are stating that "they'll take care of the teachers conditions".

But at many occasions, such as in Yazd, the teachers are using the official mediation meeting in order to show their radical rejection of the situation and even the officials. As an unprecedented example, the Yazd governor's "promises" speech was cut off after that several teachers intervened by qualifying him and "his superiors" as bunch of "fearful bandits who must get ousted".

Situation radicalizes on day 4th of Teachers strike

SMCCDI (information Service)
Mar 9, 2004

http://www.daneshjoo.org/smccdinews/article/publish/article_4140.shtml

The Islamic republic regime agents intervened in several schools, on the 4th day of Teachers strike, in order to beat and arrest several teachers and supporter students. These sporadic clashes have increased in the cities of Hamdean, Esfahan and Ardebil while starting in several areas of Tehran and its suburbs, such as Rey, Eslamshahr and Karaj.

Clashes between students and agents of the Islamic republic regime are in constant increase due to these interventions leading often to slogans against the regime and its leaders.

Streets leading to schools are under the constant watch of regime's militiamen intending to avoid any street demonstration.

The repressive move along with the statement issued by the official created Teachers syndicate calling for an end of strike are showing the fear of the regime and its firm intention to put an end to the situation which is radicalizing every day and is spreading to more cities, such as, Malar, Tabriz and Gorgan.

Protest Movement spreads on day 5th of Teachers strike

SMCCDI (information Service)
Mar 10, 2004

http://www.daneshjoo.org/smccdinews/article/publish/article_4141.shtml

The protest movement is increasing and spreading to other layers of the Iranian society on the day 5th of the Teachers strike which has now gained momentum between the majorityof students and their parents.

Delays in departures of trains, buses and governmental owned industrial entities, such as the Petroleum and Metalurgy complexes in Abadan and Esfahan, have increased in the last two days following the nightly distribution of tracts calling for a general strike.

Schools in most cities are closed or on strike despite all official threats against teachers and students. Street demonstrations, slogans against the regime and Sporadic clashes are adding to the tense situation.

The strike has now hit all Iranian cities and even small villages where some older students have been reported as "having gone to cities to help.."

It's to note that most Iranians are prepaing themselves for the night of March 16th when they'll defy again the Islamic regime by celebrating the banned "Tchahar Shanbe Soori" (Fire Fiest) declared as a "Pagan Tradition" by the dogmatic mullahs.

200,000 Teachers Strike For Pay Increase
Source Radio Farda: http://www.radiofarda.com/transcripts/topstory/2004/03/20040309_1830_0042_0343_EN.asp

•More than 200,000, or 30 percent of all Iranian teachers, went on strike since Saturday to protest against low wages, according to Ali-Asghar Zati, spokesman of one of the 17 teachers' trade association and group that has called the strike. In many towns, he said, officials tried to convince the teachers to return to classes, but the teachers resisted, he added. Official sources did not disclose the number of strikers, but a newspaper reported that the strike has affected at least 400 schools in Tehran.

•As the strike entered its fourth day, a high school teacher in Karaj tells Radio Farda that the teachers have not received any official reaction to their demands. He and his colleagues, like teachers in many other schools, have been sitting in the principal's office since this morning, he adds. The strike was called by 17 teachers' trade groups and associations to demand wages equal to other civil servants for the teachers. (Nima Tamadon)

Protest demo rocks Tehran

SMCCDI (Information Service)
Mar 10, 2004

http://www.daneshjoo.org/smccdinews/article/publish/article_4143.shtml

Another spontaneous protest demonstration is rocking, at this time( 20:15 IR local time), parts of Northern, Western and Eastern Tehran where groups of young have come into the streets and are shouting slogans against the regime and its leaders.

The biggest gathering has been reported as to be in the Madar square (former Mohseni) and the Mirdamad Avenue in Northern Tehran.

The number of protesters is increasing despite the massive presence of the regime's security forces. Perimeters are getting close, by the regime's agents, but people are managing to join the demonstrators by detours.

Violent clashes are expected as the regime's facing pressures on several internal and Int.' front and needs to show its ability of controlling the situation for its less ideological supporters who have been withdrawing important sums of money from their bank accounts with the spread of the teachers and students strikes.

Glad to hear it I just hope its successful at least in some small way. I wish I could be of more help to them. For success I pray for freedom I pray. Smile

Its already liberated? well if so thats great but all I've heard is its a work in progress.

Just got some mail saying they've succeeded in gaining control of at least half the town! Though 200 hundred have been injured and 5 killed Sad lets hope they gain full control and manage to keep it. And that this continues.

Deadly calshes rock N. Iran for the 2nd consecutive day

SMCCDI (information Service)
Mar 14, 2004

http://www.daneshjoo.org/smccdinews/article/publish/article_4146.shtml

Deadly clashes rocked, on Sunday and for the 2nd consecutive day, the northern city of Fereydoon-Kenar located by the Caspian sea in the Mazandaran province. Several more protesters have been killed, raising the death toll to more than 8, and hundreds of other wounded and arrested.

The regime's heliported special forces sent from Esfahan and Tehran have opened fire and for the first time used of shot guns in order to break the popular demos leaded by the city's maverick women who came into the streets in support of their fathers, brothers and husbands. Several of them were seen laying on the ground and beaten up after the regime forces opened the charge.

Noise of sporadic shooting were heard all night along and several members of the Pasdaran elite force and the Bassij have been shot to death or captured in ambushes made by the residents. Several security patrol cars have been destroyed by Molotov cocktails thrown from roofs.

Armed struggle in N. Iran

SMCCDI (information Service)
Mar 14, 2004

http://www.daneshjoo.org/smccdinews/article/publish/article_4147.shtml

Armed struggle has rocked, for the last two days, the northern city of Fereydoon-Kenar where tens of masked freedom fighters have joined the local residents by retaliating to the regime forces brutality and deadly shootings. Hospitals have been fill in with several killed and tens of injured, with several in critical conditions, among the protesters and the security forces which have witnessed a fierce popular resistance.

Along with daily and nightly demos, ambushes are made for the regime forces inside the city especially with the fall of night. The situation is worst for isolated regime forces in the regional roads where many young Mazandaranis have taken arms by remembering the smashed rebellions of the early 80's and the epic of the Sarbedaran group which took for several days over the city of Amol, located near Fereydoon-Kenar.

Several official buildings of Fereydoon-Kenar, such as, the local Pasdaran camp, the local Bassidj force, the regular Law Enforcement Forces, several mosques used by the regime for the control of the city, the home of several officials including the representative of the supreme leaders, the state's representative, banks and various other facilities representing the Islamic state have been set ablaze or damaged.

Many young freedom fighters and local residents are hoping to extend the protest actions and resistance to the regime forces till Tuesday night when millions of Iranians will come into the streets in order to transform their banned cultural heritage "Tchahar Shanbe Soori" (Fire Fiest) into a nightmare for the dogmatic Islamic clerics. Tchahar Shanbe Soori will place an unprecedented pressure on the regime forces and will show their inability to control the situation when actions are widely spread in all Iranian cities.

Some e.mailed pictures distributed by Peykeiran shows parts of the unrests which are taking place in the city.
