DAKAR -- The UAE has reaffirmed its full sovereignty on the three islands of Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs, currently being occupied by Iran.
It also re-affirms its full sovereignty over the three islands' airspace, territorial waters and their continental shelf, which the UAE fully regards as an integral part of its regional sovereignty and called for amicable and peaceful resolution of the dispute.
Ahmed Shabib Al Dhahiri, First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) and head of the UAE delegation to the third session of the Parliamentary Union of member states of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), currently being held here in Dakar, stated this in his address to the meeting.
He said developments in the world today underscore the importance of the work of the OIC parliamentary union. The Islamic world is currently facing difficult challenges, which demand a unified stance by Islamic countries on various issues. It also demands concerted efforts to boost unified work and to defend Islamic issues, he said.
He touched on terrorism, which he strongly rejected to be linked with any religion or civilisation. He said neither Islam nor Muslims should be held responsible for any act or practice that is far from the spirit of Islam. _________________ Referendum AFTER Regime Change
