There have been over 90 protest actions in the month of February alone in many cities and towns throughout Iran. Including the violent clashes in Kurdistan and other towns. Additionally there have been widespread protests by workers over lack of pay and factory closings. Also many student portests over the campus repressions.

---------------------------------------

It should also be noted that the worker protests are happening at a time, when the regime is selling govt. owned factories at a fraction of the price to memebrs of the Mullah$' families. This is the great privatisation plan, where a $50 million factory complex, owned by the govt. on behalf of the people, doesn't pay its workers for 6 months, and is then sold to a relative of the Mullah$ for a $1 million. Its like what happened in Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union, where they dismantled the entire Russian behemoth of industy and the backbone of its economy. They have started to do the same in Iran, the people are going to be screwed for many generations to come as a result.

I was watching Dr. Khatami (Khatami's brother) on PBS last night talking about how Iranians don't wnat regime change, they just want Reforms and he has another Reformist candidate for president. He went to great lengths to emphasize that Iranians don't want a regime change. Then I realised a regime change, almost inevitably will involve some finanacial accounting of who stole what, and the Khatami family stands to lose alot. Iran's president Khatami (who participated in the massacre of political prisoners in 1988, one of the worst crimes against humanity of modern Iran) and the rest of his family have become millionaires many times over as a result of this regime, so naturally they can step down from office, and enjoy the fruits of their thieving comfortably now. But regime change could spoil that.

A western reporter wrote recently that while in Iran interviewieng Rafsanjani on whether he was running for president, he asked his son, what he thought wbout his father running for president. The son answered: "Why should he, we have enough already".

This is why they don't want regime change, and this is why without regime change there will be no major improvements of democracy, ecomony, equality, opportunity, progress, or anything positive!
