Acts of rebellion against the islamic state

These are only a few things that I could think of and i'm sure freedom fighters inside Iran have many other tactics ready to execute:



- puncture the vehicles belonging to police/revolutionary guards/basij and other repressive organs that the regime uses to quell uprisings

- write revolutionary slogans on walls/signs/currency

- form "trust" groups of people you can count on and work with together in arresting or IF NECESSARY eliminating enemy forces - create neighbourhood networks that can communicate with other neighbourhoods ONLY WITH PEOPLE YOU KNOW AND TRUST

- public transportation such as taxi's should not pick up any islamic clergymen (this is already common practice nowadays)

- contact military officers/soldiers and demand that they unite with the people or face what might await them in the future (this can be done anonomously through phone-letter-fax)

- identify places of residence of IRI supporters, especially higher ranking ones and identify: FAMILY, DAILY LIVING ROUTINES, TRANSPORTATION ROUTES that they use, and other important information

- sabotage government buildings

- capture the TV & Radio buildings on D-DAY! and DEFEND them

- mosques are places where the Islamic Republic houses repressive forces and stores weapons caches; they are LEGITIMATE TARGETS

- give weapons training to people (men & WOMEN!) so that they know how to handle a gun/pistol other "device"

- identify and break into weapons caches and distribute amongst the population

- identify and be able to CUT the LINE OF COMMUNICATION that IRI officials/supporters use inbetween themselves and be able to SABOTAGE those means when the right time comes

- be able to assemble roadblocks quickly to obstruct routes that repressive organs might use when D-DAY finally strikes

- detain family members of IRI officials

- acts of violence should be aimed at IRI COMMAND AND CONTROL and LEADERSHIP + REPRESSIVE ORGANS

Regarding writing revolutionary slogans, if time is pressing, a simple "V" will do. The European resistance movements against the Nazi's used that in World War 2. "V"'s can be made from cut up bedsheets, newspapers etc that can be visible for hundreds of meters when hung/taped to balconies, upper story windows etc. For the detail-oriented, a blue tip to one of the strokes will symbolize free elections as in Iraq. Flying/hanging a Lion-and-Sun flag would be a powerful symbol, or an IRI flag with center cut out as in Hungary, 1956.

Telephone exchanges are also important to seize. Buses parked crosswise make wonderful street barricades. Perhaps slash the tires after they are parked, though you might want to consult those up the chain of command on this. Perhaps just take the distributor caps.

Small security patrols can be ambushed and relieved of their weapons, ammunition, vehicles, communications and other equipment by numerically superior forces. Perhaps uniforms can be "borrowed" and worn along with Liberation symbols (Lion-and-Sun flag, IRI flag with center cut out, white "V" on helmet, etc.) Creating an appearance of defections will have powerful effect on morale of both sides. Any prisoners should be blindfolded and well secured.

It might be advisable to scout out locations of Western and other outside news agencies and perform street blockages, office seizures and other feats of daring within camera shot of news media offices. Scoop for them, free publicity for freedom seekers.

An inspiring book on how to run a revolution with minimal violence is the science fiction novel "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress" by Robert Heinlein, I highly recommend it!

On second thought, if the telephone exchange is automatically run as most modern ones are, occupying it might only prevent the regime from shutting down all telephone service. If so, judgements will have to be made as to if people at the exchange would be more useful elsewhere. Electric power stations and switching facilities might be important to control is well. Would liberation be better served by having the power grid running or down? Another judgement call.

Once the regime starts to dissolve, anarchy Iraq-style might start to break out unless free Iranians act to protect their neighborhoods. Block wardens and friendly security forces wearing armbands should protect food stores, hospitals, government buildings (especially those containing incriminating files on the old regime) and generally discourage theft and vandalism in the guise of celebration.

I was going to post a link a gun-lover's site with a page to all kinds of improvised weapons and explosives knowledge (including how to build your own nuclear weapons!). But on second thought, any decision on the use of violence in this revolution should be made up the chain of command, not at the level of the individual activist. That being the case, I will leave it to the chain of command to pass on the knowledge on how to do these things when and where it sees fit.

In reading thru that US Army Urban Combat Manual, it recommends that vehicles, being used as street barricades, be tipped on their sides. I don't know how you would do this to a city bus, perhaps a couple of liberated tow trucks, one on each wheel well would do the trick.
