Tens of protesters injured and arrested in Bam and Jiroft
SMCCDI (Information Service)
Dec 29, 2003
Tens of protesters were injured and arrested, by the regime forces, in sporadic actions which took place in the devastated cities of Bam and Jiroft. The latters were intending to size the so long awaited venue of the regime's leaders in order to protest against the lacks of attention and conditions which have resulted in the deaths of their family members.
The security forces, deployed massively, were quick to rush in repressing them instead of understanding their situation and anger. Several protesters were seen beaten up and quicly dumped in patrol cars leaving the scenes.
Strict orders have been given to the security apparatus to repress any riot or action which can result in "tarnishing the image of the Islamic State by Counter Revolutionnary Elements" . Those arrested are to be conducted to the Pasdaran Corp.'s Intelligence Unit located in Bandar Abbas and to be qualified as "looters".
Thousands died following the quake due to the incompetence of the authorities.
Bam and Jiroft are under Martial Law and the situation is very tense.

Amir Taheri's article in the New York Post mentioned that Khatami was booed so much he had to be wisked away and his visit to Bam was cut short! |

Could this be the opportunity to revolt? Remember what took place in Georgia about a month or so ago? The government was taken over. I know it could be extremely dangerous; but are there enough people who would do such a thing? I pray that it can come about with the least number of casualties. |
